Tinubu condoles with India over train accident

President Bola Tinubu has sent his condolences to Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, over a train accident in the country.

Tinubu revealed this in a statement shared on his Twitter page on Saturday.

At least 288 people were killed and more than 850 injured in a horrific three-train collision in India.

In his condolence letter, Tinubu said, “My heart goes to the families of those affected by the unfortunate and heartrending train cash in the Indian state of Odisha.

“We stand with India in brotherhood at this difficult time. The magnitude of the crash and the high casualty figure call for global support for India to adequately respond to this calamitous accident.

“I send my deepest sympathy and condolences to His Excellency Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the people of India and the families of those trapped in the crash.”

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has commiserated with the people of the Republic of India following the train crash that killed more than 280 passengers.

Commiserating with the families of the victims, the FG, in a statement by the spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Francisca Omayuli, on Saturday stated, “The Federal Government of Nigeria commiserates with the Government and people of the Republic of India over the tragic train accident that occurred in Balasore District of the eastern State of Odisha on Friday, 2nd June, 2023.”
