“Stop using Yoruba, you won’t go far” – Netizens troll Asake over his newly released album, Work of Art

 

Asake, the popular Nigerian singer, recently announced the release of his second album, titled “Work of Art,” on May 15th, 2023, which received a mixed response from his audience.

Asake, who is signed to the YBNL record label headed by Olamide, expressed his excitement about the new body of work through his social media platforms.

The album, “Work of Art,” consists of fourteen (14) tracks, with a special feature from Olamide. Additionally, three previously released songs, namely “Yoga,” “2:30,” and “Amapiano,” are also included in the album.

This announcement follows Asake’s debut studio album, “Mr Money With The Vibe,” which was released on September 8th, 2022.

However, some of Asake’s fans expressed their dissatisfaction with the new album, leading to several criticisms. Non-Yoruba-speaking fans particularly expressed displeasure with the heavy usage of Yoruba language in the lyrics, suggesting that Asake may face limitations in his career if he continues to predominantly sing in Yoruba.
